I shared the anecdote with Led Zeppelin so I though I'd share it with you as well. Hope to see you at the next reunion.
I was talking with some people about how there is a perception that music styles are marketed to people of certain ethnic backgrounds so I thought I'd share the following anecdote that occurred when I was in junior high school c.1971 since it involves the Led Zeppelin IV album.
Nancy Wynn was a "white" girl who spoke like a "white" girl, had "white" mannerisms, and listened to "white" music (i.e. Led Zeppelin??). and Tim Clark who was half African-American and half Spanish, who looked "white", spoke like a "black" boy, had "black" mannerisms, and listened to "black" music (i.e. James Brown??). When I watch the movie "Malibu's Most Wanted", I think of Tim Clark because he was a 70' version of the main character Brad 'B-Rad' Gluckman in "Malibu's Most Wanted" . Tim wasn't trying to be "black" or "white". He was trying to be Tim Clark. In the movie, B-Rad's father hires a couple of guys black guys who know what it's like to be "black" to scare B-rad "white".
"Someone told me there's a girl out there with love in her eyes and flowers in her hair" ~ James Patrick Page / Robert Anthony Plant
I was eating lunch "al fresco" in the school quad with some friends. Nancy walked by us cradling a Led Zeppelin IV album in her left arm. We looked at each other and started laughing because we thought she brought the Led Zeppelin IV album to give to Tim. Nancy and Tim were "seeing each other" at the time. They say opposites attract. Tancy was the personification of this saying. We were saying Las Vegas was giving odds on how long Tancy would last, three hours, three days, or three weeks. Anyway, we thought she was going to use the Led Zeppelin IV album in an attempt to "whitewash" Tim. "If you want to date me, you to behave like a "white" boy and listen to "white" music." Ironically, members of Led Zeppelin have admitted they were influenced by "black" musicians. Willie Dixon "I Can't Quit You, Baby", James Brown, "The Crunge", and Bob Marley "D'yer Maker."
"I can't quit you baby so I'm gonna put you down for awhile" ~ Willie Dixon
I don't know how long Tancy lasted but I would be willing to bet it didn't last more than three weeks.
Thanks for the musical memories, ??

File under: Better late than never.
I hope this message finds you in good health and spirits. I used to ride the bus to work downtown when I worked at Pacific Bell/Pacific Telesis. I met a young woman named Nancy Wohlrab (I think that's how her last name is spelled) who, in my humble opinion, looked like she could be your younger sister. I'm sending this message now because I was talking to a relative about meeting people you went to school with in unexpected places. I told her the last time I spoke to you was at the food court at San Diego State University while I attended SDSU. I didn't know if you attended SDSU but I never saw you again. I have been trying to attend the reunions but, due to circumstances beyond my control, I haven't been able to attend. I hope to attend the 2026 reunion. I hope to see you at the 2026 reunion. If you're married in 2026, bring your hubby and pictures of your children, if you have any. If I'm married, I'll bring my trophy wife. If I'm not married, I'll bring my trophy escort. 'Till we meet again...
Happy B-day! How old are you now? 30? For how many times?
Happy belated B-day! I would have sent you a message yesterday but due to circumstances beyond my control, I was unable to access my computer. Like the saying goes, "If you remember my B-day celebration you weren't there."

Happy B-day! Hopefully we'll work together in the near future.
I look forward to securing Microsoft's Edge browser with WNS. Give my regards to Satya!
Janet,
Thanx for visiting my site on Classmates.com. Please visit my profile on this website. It will explain why I haven't been able to stay in touch.
'Till we meet again.
Dear friend,
I hope you’re in good health. I apologize for not responding sooner but I’ve experienced a number of issues with computers and internet services keeping me from using the internet. I tried to attend the reunions for the class of 1976 since 1996 but was unable to attend due to problems beyond my control. I’m hoping to attend the next reunion. In the meantime, I created a profile at Will C. Crawford Alumni Association & Foundation (http://www.crawfordcolts.org/). It will provide a better explanation for why I haven’t attended the reunions.
Until we meet again,
Jose Arteaga
