What else would you like us to know about you?

I was one lucky being to have chosen teaching as my career. I loved every minute of it, and believe me it was difficult to retire in 2001 after 37 years in the classroom. Now Barbara and I (married 50 years in June 2012) adore our precious grandchildren.

Favorite CHS Memory:

No joke, all four years there (1964-1968). It was a wonderful school in which to start my career because of the students in this neighborhood and the helpful faculty at this school!
For me, it was a potent learning ground with this administration: George Parry, Lois Agnew, Florence Eaton, and colleagues who mentored me without even knowing so: Mary Barr, Dick Brosio, Grant Behnke, Jerry Dickinson, Bill Hanson, Marion McAnear, Eli Ross, and head custodian “Blackie” USN!
Deepest thanks to you all.

What did you teach/sponsor at CHS and what years?

My first teaching job was at Crawford, where I taught English from 1964-1968, then I was selected to be the Dept. Chair at the new Patrick Henry High, opening Sept. 1968. At CHS, I had the great privilege to team-teach with Bill Hansen, Mary Barr, and Gale Sheldon.

Which CHS teachers/faculty do you keep in contact with?

Mary Barr, Grant Behnke, Bill Hansen, Don Mayfield, Arlene Mulligan and students Randy Flynn (and his brother Russell) and Doug Nason. I currently play lots of golf with Greg Trompas, Lance DeGrazier, and Jim Clark, ex-students from Crawford.

Dear Sally, Goodness I never look at my CHS site, so I just saw your comment. What a kind remembrance. Perhaps the greatest memories for a teacher always come as a result of their students. BTW, we love the islands having visited some 22+ times. Sam
